Full Job Description:

Rascals Preschool Playgroup, operated by Rustington Methodist Church, has a vacancy for an experienced level 3 or above qualified member of staff to take on the role of Supervisor. The successful applicant will work alongside an existing experienced Supervisor to support the setting's Manager.

Our setting caters for a maximum of 26 children in each session ranging from ages

2 years to 4 years and we operate term time only in Rustington Methodist Church Hall.

The position is 22 hours per week (Monday and Tuesday 9am - 4pm, Thursday and Friday 9am - 1pm), plus 5 paid admin hours. The rate of pay is £12.20 per hour.

The applicant must have:

- At least 1 year previous experience of supervising/leading staff

- Experience of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage

- Experience of being a key person

- Experience of working with children with additional needs.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling them to communicate professionally with Parents/Carers, colleagues and other professionals either face to face or by email/message

- Experience and knowledge of implementing safeguarding procedures

- Access to a computer and be experienced in:

  • sending and receiving professional emails to individuals and groups of people

  • Word and Excel

  • Using a shared drive such as Dropbox

  • Updating Facebook pages

  • Creating newsletters

  • Producing minutes of staff meetings and distributing to staff

- At least 3 years experience of working with children aged 2-4 years in an Early years setting

- Experience of recording children's arrival and departure, questioning unfamiliar adults at these times and ensuring visitors are recorded

- Experience of recording accidents and the administering of first aid


Duties will include:

- working within staff ratios directly with the children completing all admin work outside of opening hours

- taking a full part in the daily running of the setting, including leading group story/ singing time, preparing food and supervising children at snack time and supporting children with eating their packed lunch

- assisting children using the toilet, changing nappies and helping children with toilet training in partnership with their parents/carers

- helping to set up and pack away at the beginning and end of each session leaving the premises clean and tidy

You will be joining a small, friendly, fun team of 4 other staff.

The children are hoping for someone friendly, enthusiastic, motivated, fun, dynamic and caring to play with them and to help them learn and develop.

The other members of the staff team are hoping for someone who is fully committed to working as part of a team, supportive, nurturing, knowledgeable, passionate about their role, organised and motivated.
